Job Description
Pricing & Underwriting Pathway
Location: London, Norwich, Perth, York
Hours: Full time, permanent
Work type: Hybrid
Salary: £26,700
The OpportunityIn this pathway, you’ll choose between two exciting areas:
Pricing and
Underwriting. Both play a vital role in how we protect customers and grow our business.
Pricing is about the numbers. You’ll dive into data, build predictive models, and use market insight to calculate fair and competitive prices. It’s perfect if you love getting stuck into the detail and solving tricky problems.
Underwriting is all about making confident, informed decisions. As an underwriter you’ll assess risks based on the type of cover we’re giving, the likelihood of something bad happening, the value of what’s being insured, and the customer’s history of making claims. You’ll build relationships with brokers, negotiate terms and decide whether we should offer cover. It’s a mix of analysis, curiosity and great people skills.
Whichever route you take, you’ll gain hands-on experience, work with experts and develop skills that open doors to a rewarding career.
These are permanent roles from day one. During your apprenticeship, you’ll spend around 80% of your time gaining hands-on experience and 20% studying for your Apprenticeship qualifications. It’s a chance to learn, grow and make an impact from the start.
That’s not all. You’ll join our two-year central development programme giving you everything you need to become a well-rounded professional.
Whatever your role and whatever your background, you’ll get the training you need to shine bright as well as opportunities to develop long-term in your career. We’re continuously moving forward as a business, and we’ll make sure you do too.
And if you need support with your online application or you need to apply another way, we’ve got you covered there, too. Just reach out to

The best part has been building strong friendships with my apprentice cohort." - Current Apprentice The rolesThere are

You’ll get the benefit of spending time with colleagues in real life as well as gaining more work-life balance. Not all role types are available in every location, so when you apply you’ll be able to let us know which roles and which locations you prefer.

You’ll analyse customer risk, market trends and product performance, working with underwriters to refine models and make decisions. One day you might build a pricing tool, the next you’re spotting trends or shaping pricing for new business. You’ll also collaborate with teams across underwriting, analytics, finance, claims and risk to ensure compliance and share ideas through forums and community sessions.
While you work, you’ll study for a
Level 4 Data Analyst apprenticeship. The apprenticeship typically takes between eighteen months to two years to complete, and is designed to give you the skills to succeed in your role.
Underwriting (London, Norwich, York): you’ll help shape how we approach risk: from individual policies to global corporations. You’ll learn how to assess risk, make informed decisions and negotiate solutions that protect our customers. Working with brokers and teams across the business, you’ll secure new business and tailor solutions for existing customers.
