Job Description

Corporate Functions Pathway
Location: Norwich, Sheffield and York
Hours: Full time, permanent with two-year development programme
Work type: Hybrid
Salary: £26,700

The Opportunity

An apprenticeship in our Corporate Functions pathway is a fantastic way to dive into the world of business. You’ll see how we operate, manage teams and keep everything running smoothly, and you’ll play a part in making it happen.

Strategic thinking is at the heart of these roles. You’ll develop skills in problem-solving, negotiation and market awareness, giving you the tools to progress, lead or carve out your own niche.

We offer a variety of permanent roles in this pathway. During your first 18–22 months (depending on your studies), you’ll spend around 80% of your time gaining hands-on experience and 20% studying for your apprenticeship qualifications.

Not sure which role suits you best? Don’t worry, we’ll help you discover where your strengths and interests lie throughout the recruitment process.

Whatever your role and whatever your background, you’ll get the training you need to shine bright as well as opportunities to develop long-term in your career. We’re continuously moving forward as a business, and we’ll make sure you do too.

You’ll start with our two year central development programme, designed to help you become a well-rounded professional and a future business leader.

And if you need support with your online application or you need to apply another way, we’ve got you covered there, too.  Just reach out to avivaearlycareers@aviva.com

“I joined Aviva straight out of sixth form after studying Maths and Business. Now, I help build relationships with suppliers that ensure our goods and services are delivered with quality to our customers. All the exciting elements involved means one day is different to the next. Especially when there’s so much to learn, due to the pure breadth of our supply chain.”-Current Apprentice

The roles

There are two roles on offer within our Corporate Functions Pathway, based in one or other of Norwich, Sheffield and York: all buzzing places in which to launch your career. We champion hybrid working at Aviva (three days in the office and two days from home every week after training is typical, but this will vary between teams) so you’ll need to live within commuting distance of the office where your chosen role is based. You’ll get the benefit of spending time with colleagues in real life as well as gaining more work-life balance. Not all role types are available in every location, so when you apply let us know which roles and which locations you prefer.

Financial Crime Risk Apprentice (Sheffield): you’ll help protect our customers from crimes like fraud and money laundering. You’ll work with teams across Aviva to manage risks, review controls and research regulations to keep us compliant. Your role will involve analysing data to spot patterns, creating clear reports and supporting good customer outcomes. Alongside hands-on experience, you’ll learn through training and projects to stay ahead of new trends and regulations.

You’ll study for your Level 3 Compliance & Risk Officer apprenticeship. You’ll have opportunities to grow your career across all three lines of defence and make a real impact by helping to protect Aviva and our customers. You’ll work in a fast-paced, innovative environment and benefit from our two-year central development programme, designed to help you become a well-rounded professional.

Risk & Compliance Apprentice (Norwich, Sheffield, York): you’ll help keep Aviva safe by spotting risks early and ensuring rules are followed. You’ll rotate across three key teams – Compliance Advice & Guidance, Compliance Monitoring and Group Operational Risk – giving you a unique view of how we protect customers and manage regulatory and operational risks. From planning checks and testing processes to creating reports and supporting senior leaders, you’ll gain hands-on experience while building confidence and communication skills.

You will study for your Level 3 Compliance & Risk Officer apprenticeship which, alongside your on-the-job learning, will give you a strong foundation in risk and compliance. You will get exposure to senior leaders and plenty of opportunities for professional development through training and mentoring. You’ll make a real impact by helping Aviva manage risk effectively while building the skills and confidence to grow your career.
