Job Description
Ready to shine bright in your career?
Our Data pathway attracts inquisitive minds. With millions of customers, we have one of the broadest and deepest data sets in the financial services industry and beyond.
This pathway is all about exploration and finding the answers to problems as well as discovering new, exciting opportunities to make meaningful change at Aviva. Data is central to our strategy over the next 10 years and on this pathway, you’ll be helping to steer us into the future.
From the moment you join us, you’ll be in a permanent position where you can own and drive your development.
Get to know the different pathway roles There are four different specialisms on offer. We’d love for graduates to be as open as possible about the different routes. But do let us know on your application if you have a preferred role. We’ll do what we can to help you light your own path.
Pricing: Using data to price our products, analyse our performance and drive business evolution.
Data Science: Using all kinds of scientific methods, processes, algorithms, and systems to extract knowledge and insights from data.
Data Analysis: Working closely with colleagues to answer questions and make decisions about the products and services we provide.
Data Engineering: Being part of the team responsible for designing and building the systems we use to collect, store, and analyse data.
Reporting and Management Information: Focusing on how we analyse and visualise information to help make smarter business decisions.
Throughout the application, we’ll be testing your strengths to see what role we feel is best suited to you – so don’t worry if you do not know which to choose yet. Whatever your role, you’ll have the chance to study for a higher-level Data apprenticeship where you will earn while you learn on a structured journey. Apprenticeships up to Level 7 – the equivalent of a Master’s degree – are available. If you do enrol, Aviva will support you with dedicated time to attend classes, complete exercises, and undertake projects.

- A passion for numbers and information.
- A genuine interest in computing and the power of data.
- Programming experience isn’t essential, but an interest to learn would be beneficial.
- A passion and talent for solving complex problems.
- An ability to translate complex ideas into language that anyone can understand.
Where could you be based? Our Data opportunities are based in
Bristol, London, Norwich, Eastleigh, or
York: all buzzing places in which to launch your career. It’s important that you live within commuting distance of the office where the role is based, or are willing to relocate as you’ll need to spend time with your team in person, as well as virtually, working from home. Not all role types are available in every location, so tell us on your application if you have a preferred location.
