Finance Graduate Pathway - 2024

  • Location:
  • Salary: £32,500
  • Closes: 10 October 2023

In Summary

Number crunching is for calculators. Finance is for creative problem-solvers with big ideas, who want to make their mark. Does that sound like you?

Job Description

The Actuaries, Accountants, and Investment Analysts who work with us in Finance have real influence. They are a part of a team that plays a key role in crafting the Aviva of the future, shaping the decisions we make, the policies we produce and the way we work.

But you don't need a degree in Finance or Accounting to join us here. We believe curiosity, customer-focus and a passion for learning are far more important. So whatever you studied, bring these qualities and we can teach you the rest.

What does it involve?

Depending on the path you choose, your training could take anything from three to five years. But rather than spending all of that time within Group Finance, you'll be working alongside colleagues across the business, discovering the crucial role that Finance has to play in delivering for our customers and achieving our commercial goals.

We'll support you in your studies towards the relevant professional qualifications and pay for your exams along the way. So by the time you finish the programme you'll be a well-rounded business professional, with a breadth of knowledge and commercial experience that could take you as far as you want to go.

What’s in it for you?

  • A permanent job from day one
  • A starting salary of £32,500
  • Support towards professional qualifications and lots of other development opportunities
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • 29 days holiday, plus bank-holidays
  • Discounts on all Aviva products
  • Annual performance-related bonus
  • Share Save scheme
  • Flexible working and wellbeing support

What do we look for?

  • You should either have a degree (in any subject), or be on track to graduate by the end of Summer 2024
  • An aptitude for numbers and a passion for business, finance and insurance
  • The confidence and determination to lead
  • Fantastic people skills
  • A creative, agile mind
  • The initiative and drive to get things done

Where will you be based?

Our Finance opportunities are based in London, Norwich, and York – all beautiful, buzzing cities and great places in which to launch your career.

But you might not need to be in the office every day. At Aviva, we ask our teams to think about when they work in the office and when they choose to work at home. We call this Smart Working.

It varies depending on your role and personal circumstances, but three days in the office and two from home is fairly typical. When you move to each new assignment, you'll discuss this with your Leader and agree what works for you, your team and the business.

This mix of home- and office-based working does, however, mean that you'll need to live (or relocate) within commuting distance of one of the locations above.

About Us

We’re a leading international insurance, savings, retirement, and investment business. We're here to help our customers plan for the future and, when the worst happens, make things right.

You might be thinking that we’re just another boring, corporate firm. But we don’t all wear suits and shiny shoes here. We’re proud to be different and just like our customers, our people are a mix of cultures, genders, and ages.

What's the application process?

Start by clicking 'apply' at the bottom of this page, which will take you through to our online application page.

There, you'll be asked to complete a short questionnaire about your motivations, and submit it along with a copy of your CV.

If you match our criteria (or get pretty close), we’ll ask you to complete our Situational Strengths and Numerical Reasoning tests.

Pass those and next will be a video interview.

The final stage is a virtual assessment day, with tasks that enable you to show us what you're good at and what you enjoy.

Impress us there and we'll offer you a role to start in September 2024.

Additional Information

Aviva is for everyone

We're an inclusive business and we're keen to attract applications from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Research tells us that women in particular will often rule them themselves out if they feel they don't tick absolutely every box. But don't let that stop you. If you truly believe you have what it takes and can demonstrate that during the recruitment process, we'd love to hear from you.

We interview every disabled applicant who meets the minimum criteria for the job. During your application there will be an opportunity for you send us an email stating that you have a disclosed disability.

Please submit your application online if you can. But if that presents a problem, just email avivaearlycareers@aviva.com and we'll arrange an alternative method.
