Job Description
Technology drives our business, allowing us to focus on what matters most – our customers. Whether it’s solving their problems or coming up with innovative new solutions, we put them at the heart of everything we do.
We’ve got a variety of 10-week summer internships available that will help you gain a deeper insight into the exciting world of technology and change delivery, as well as give you a head start on your future career. They provide an exciting learning opportunity in an environment where everyone is encouraged to share ideas, ask questions, and seek advice. You don't need to be a tech expert or be studying technology related subject to apply. We're looking for naturally curious people who think big, understand the positive impact technology can have and are eager to make change happen.
Our internships are designed to be a feeder into our graduate programmes so after you’ve finished your internship, you might be offered a permanent graduate role starting with us in September 2026 (after you’ve successfully completed your course).
Get to know the roles available: We’ve got a number of different placements to choose from. To help you, we’ve grouped them into two specialisms so you can choose which one best suits your skills, interests, and aspirations;
Change delivery and
Software development.
We’d encourage you to be as open as possible about the different options, but you can tell us on your application if you have a preference for a role. We'll assess your strengths and interests throughout the recruitment process to determine the best fit for you.
Change deliveryChange delivery is about identifying and solving problems, creating innovative solutions, and driving change. This internship is ideal for big-picture thinkers who aren't afraid to challenge the status quo. If you enjoy organising information or people, influencing thinking, and improving processes, this could be a great fit for you.
We have a number of roles within this specialism. Roles in this area include:
- Business Analyst (Norwich or York): Our Business Analysts help us understand our customers’ needs – and what we need to do to deliver the practical solutions to meet them. If you’re the kind of person who can explain complex concepts and problems in a simple way, this could be the role for you. You’ll analyse and evaluate business opportunities (including the supporting data) and identify areas for improvement. And in everything you do, you’ll champion the use of technology to improve how we do things for our 19.6 million customers and thousands of colleagues.
- Project Manager (Bristol or Norwich): our Project Managers are experts in organising themselves and others. We look for people who are comfortable taking the lead in a group, and also go out of their way to make sure everyone is heard. With a passion for delivering great customer service and a mix of people and planning skills, you’re just the person to make sure everything gets done in the right way, on time and on budget.
- Risk Analyst (Norwich): management of risk plays an important role across all our change deliveries and day-to-day operations. It ensures we’re keeping our technology, our colleagues and, ultimately, our customers safe. As a Risk Analyst you’ll work with technical and non-technical teams to make sure risks (uncertainties, potential threats) are identified, assessed and have appropriate action plans in place (and managed!) to reduce or remove risk and ensure safe and successful delivery. You’ll have similar skills and strengths to Project Managers and Business Analysts and will be comfortable being curious and inquisitive, collaborating across teams and analysing and identifying areas for improvement.
Software developmentOur software development teams are key to helping us connect with customers and colleagues, giving them a secure, reliable, and engaging experience. Join an internship with us and you’ll get the chance to be part of a team who helps to test software before release.
If you think logically, enjoy problem solving, are curious about how things work this might be the right opportunity for you:
- Test Engineer (Norwich or York): our Software Testers ensure that our software is fit for purpose, resilient and secure. You will work to identify any issues, gaps, glitches or missing elements so that our customers and colleagues have a seamless and trouble-free experience when using our products and applications. During your internship you will learn the fundamentals of test management best practices, how to use test automation tools and gain knowledge of behaviour driven development practices.
What you’ll get
- A salary of £26,500 per annum (pro rata for 10 weeks)
- The opportunity to learn from experienced professionals
- A great support network to help you grow into your role
- Build business and interpersonal skills to launch your future career (hopefully with us!)
- The potential of an offer of a permanent graduate role for 2026
- Support towards your personal development 25 days holiday, plus bank holidays (pro-rated)
- Flexible working and wellbeing support
What we’re looking forTo be considered for a 10-week summer internship with us, you’ll:
- be a penultimate year student studying for a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (in any subject), with one year of study remaining after the internship
- be intending to return to university for your final year of study after the placement
- be interested in the potential of a permanent role starting Autumn 2026
- be available to work full time (35 hours per week) for the full duration of the internship (1st July 2025 – 5th September 2025)
- have the right to work in the UK for the duration of the internship whether that be on a permanent basis, or with a visa that would allow you to work 35 hours per week. We can’t offer sponsorship for anyone needing sponsorship from us because the roles don’t meet the requirements set out by the home office
Across both specialisms, we’re looking for people who are motivated to drive real change and make a positive impact for our colleagues and customers. You’ll be a confident communicator with a love of learning and a commitment to continually developing yourself. You’ll also have an analytical mind and a talent for problem solving, as well as an eagerness to question existing ways of doing things. And of course, we’re looking for a genuine passion for technology, change, innovation and continual improvement.
Where could you be based? We have opportunities based in Bristol, Norwich and York: all buzzing places in which to launch your career. Not all role types are available in every location (see above for details), so tell us on your application if you have a preference. You will need to live within commuting distance of the office where the role is based or be willing to relocate prior to start date as you’ll need to spend time with your team in person, as well as virtually, working from home. Three days in the office and two days from home (minimum 50%) is typical, but this will vary between teams.
